World Cycling Stats 2017
« on: January 15, 2017, 10:09:25 pm »
A new cycling season is starting. Last year we played a game around giro, vuelta and tour organized by a third party. The number of participants was only growing. This year the game is even bigger. They made a competition with every staged race of 2.1, 2.HC and 2.WT. And Cycling for fun will be there.

I will make an little league for us so at the end of the cycling season we can see how much we grew and who was the best globally. (the easiest way for this is if the same person creates the league.)
If you want to join:

1. Follow this link: http://www.worldcyclingstats.com/en/games
2. Log in or create an account (it is free)
3. Join in the races which are open for participation.
4. Click on the tab leagues and look for cycling for fun.
5.  (read the rules section if you don't know how to)
6. Enjoy

The link is in english but you can switch the language to dutch and french. I will post the password everytime I create a new league.

Important!! I won't always be able to create a league so I need one person who I can contact to make the league (on my account) and select some random riders so the league is active and we can see the password.
Last season we had some prices to give away, I will check my pm if I already arranged it for this season otherwise I will let you know.

The code for Tour Down Under is: SMJVO3G5

I would like to help you very much ;
I m active in the WCS and you can trust me, send me a pm if you would like me to help you make the leagues this season.

Breaking news ; also in 2017 there will be the famous season trophy's ! Good luck everyone !  8)
Example of the trophy's :

Simon Gerrans won his fourth Tour Down Under title in 2016

Preview Santos Tour Down Under 2017 :

Stage 1: Unley to Lyndoch (145km) – Almost certainly one for the sprinters. The parcours is a little lumpy but the stage finishes with a downhill run to the line in Lyndoch.

Stage 2: Stirling to Paracombe (149km) – The toughest stage of the race. Starts with five laps of the tough and by-now-familiar Stirling circuit. The stage ends with roughly 10km of climbing, including a steep 1.5km ramp to the finish in Paracombe.

Stage 3: Glenelg to Victor Harbor (144km) – Likely to be another sprint stage thanks to a flat finish in Victor Harbor. Wind could be a factor.

Stage 4: Norwood to Campbelltown (150km) – Pretty lumpy and features an uphill drag to the line, but it should still be a bunch kick.

Stage 5: McLaren Vale to Willunga Hill (152km) – The famous Willunga stage. Three laps of a big loop along the beach, then twice up Willunga Hill, finishing at the top.

Stage 6: Adelaide to Adelaide (90k) – A kermesse-style circuit race around the streets of Adelaide. Another one for the sprinters.

So far 9 participants in the CFF League of the Tour Down Under.
Among them 3 new managers, if I m correct. So that s very good and welcome to this fun game  :)

Because it is the first tour of 2017 :
I just wrote and send about 12 promotion pm' s to CFF managers who participated in 2016 a lot, but didnt register yet. The pm is :

Also this year there is a CFF League in the World Cycling Stats :
http://www.cyclingforfun.org/smf/index.php/topic,2426.msg259834.html#msg259834

It only takes a few minutes of your time to pick cyclists, after that you can relax and enjoy the stage results.

The first tour of 2017 (Tour Down Under) is about to start ; 9 hours left to register.

I hope you register also and if you do ; good luck ! :-)

Also others can promote the WCS, for example to a CFF manager to whom you have good contact with.
Or perhaps someone can promote the WCS on the Spanish forum ( I did a year ago, but this time just the 12 pm s, more then enough effort, I think ).

The more people join, the more fun, is my opinion. And of course the more CFF managers you beat in the WCS, the more fun also.  :))

I just found out something very nice. Worldcyclingstats is not only male tour races anymore. One season is a total of 60 games in 5 rankings provided by the website.
1. World Tour races male (2.WT), 17 tours (best 15 personal results are counted)
2. Continental races male (2.HC and 2.1), 23 tours (best 20 personal results are counted)
3. One day races World Tour male (1.WT), 15 races (best 10 personal results are counted)
4. World Tour races female (2.WT), 5 tours (best 3 personal results are counted)
5. Special games, none so far.

You r welcome, and you have to defend your title because you won the Tour Down Under a year ago, good luck !^^

Too bad the game has some starting problems, I m curious what the picks of others are. I picked Ewan, but I suppose lots of others did also.
And thanks for the results, WiC.  8)

If i'm right you can already see the teams of everyone. If you go to league and then click on CFF you can click on all the participants and their teams will show up. :)
