Wowwww, amazing. Really nice 250 points  :)

Next station: NEXT SUNDAY  ::)

Yes, very good performance.  :)
Karl Janson had to ride in a very risky tactic, despite the wind, because he doesnt have a strong finish.
No guts , no glory, lol^^
It turned out the way I planned, his 5 in S5 was extra strong this way.

And after this very good result I will probably try to win the individual international ranking with your cyclist, Thorin.
So he could be the teamcaptain next week, despite the fact he is the number 2 on hills.
Train him well  8)

edit ; thx WiC, and you good luck in 13 minutes !

I did not make a Season 31 topic, so I quoted everything of the u23 topic about this season. Now it is up to date.

Nice result of Janson today. He is warming up for sunday  ;D
WOW, impressive result, Thorin, in the 2nd division with just a 22 yo, and then .... 13th ! Well done 8)
I will make the selection later today, and Janson will be the team captain !
Of course the NT race is different from Steven Rooks Classic, but hopefully Janson can also score points in a hill race, he needs every point because of the plan I have to make him win the international ranking. I don t know if he is going to win that, maybe there are better cyclists, but for sure worth a serious attempt ; Janson world champion !^^

Good luck! I'll tell my other hillers that they must help his teammate tomorrow.

STAGE 3 : FLORENCE

Florence (Firenze), Italy.
Wheather forecast = 33C, sun, wind and rain. Difficult circumstances for the young Australian cyclists. The expections are not so high because I think other countries have better cyclists for this race.

However, two seasons ago at the NT u21 hills-race (the same as LBL) there were 4 Australian cyclists who scored points (6th, 15th, 17th and 18th). Remarkable ; the 2 cyclists who are at the moment the best in such a race did not score points there. And of course that can have many causes.

This fact give me hope it is possible to score points, and that is the reason why no real xp-cyclists are selected.
The 20yo and the 21 yo are not good enough yet, but they can help in the first 2 sections of the race and  these great talents can use the experience. The same goes for the best 22yo cobble-hills specialist, he is just riding for semi-xp also, I think, despite he was one of the 4 who scored points in the u21 NT race of 2 seasons ago.

I m gonna adjust the tactics tomorrow (edit=today, it is 1h past midnight), but it is already sure that team captain Karl Janson will get the strongest cyclists as helpers. Perhaps some other cyclists will get a free role.

Selection of Australia u23 =

Karl Janson (22) Matterhorn
Stephen Jons (22) TeaMetal
George Holland (22) f1team
David Montgomery (22) Absyntt
Sebastian Friend (22) Rekutxu
Oscar Henderson (22) berriozar
Bruce Hooper (22) Rekutxu
Vinnie Daily (21) Oska
Eric Lungby (20) Kilometervreters

STAGE 4 :  NO MERCY IN MURCIA ; 38C

38C
One week ago :
Alejandro Valverde won the Vuelta Ciclista a la Region de Murcia his home race for a fifth time thanks to an aggressive solo attack some 70km from the finish.
The veteran Spanish rider attacked in the mist on the
Collado Bermejo climb and then fought a headwind to win alone, with the rest of the race unable to pull him back. The number 2 finished 2:10" behind Valverde.

Hopefully the Australian U23 cyclists are inspired by this great performance of Valverde on the Alto del Collado Bermejo, the same mountain where the finish is of the U23 race of today. It will be very hot, 38C, no mercy in Murcia.

Two seasons ago the U21 had exactly this same race. Back then Charlie Mitchell finished as 13th on 0:58" of the winner and just 8 seconds ahead of the number 20. This time Charlie will be the teamcaptain again and I hope he can score points.

Australia U23 selection =

Charlie Mitchell (22) Agolpede
Phil Frances (22) ribosoma78
Callum Caan (22) JM
Justin Taylor (22) Agolpede
Christian Finals (22) dopadosteam
Oscar Norwood (22) PaczynTeam
George Jones (22) ribosoma78
Wilt Burton (21) PipiolosTeam
Karl Janson (22) Matterhorn --> xp

Because of his number 1 position in the International Ranking and his victory of last week ; Karl Janson is selected for the experience.
