Australia: U21 S38
« on: June 02, 2018, 11:19:26 am »
Thanks for the support in the election process  ;)

In this topic, I will try to post GV lists of our youngest cyclists, and I will try to preview and review the weekly races on Sunday.

After the first draft, we have 32 U21 cyclists, of which 10 are 19 years old.

Don't forget to send your international scout to Australia. Good chance that they will race in NT's for experience, as we only have a small pool to select our cyclists from.

Good luck to all other U21 managers, and to the other Australian NT managers (Telamon, Aurora).

Cheers!

Season 38, Race 001: La Primavera

In the first race of this season's U21 Campaign, we head for Milan-San Remo. It will be hard to race in the points, I think. Our only chance will be Gus Walker, but I don't think he is top 10 material. He has a few domestiques who can help out in the early sections, hopefully one will have good form this race and can still bring some water and gels in the 4th section. We'll see how it all adds up tonight. Unfortunately, our best guy has little to none experience yet.

Gus Walker (20, REALBETISBalompie) - 56,22
Julian Garlick (20, TeamLucifer) - 51,51
Gilbert Emme (19, Grizly62) - 50,61
Will Fagan (19, SP0RTLIFE) - 50,59
Herbie Aldrin (20, PoohsDrenge) - 47,09
Martin Warrenburg (20, Monster) - 43,74 (Wildcard)
Terry Oar    (20, VodkaJuniorsCycling) - 43,26 (Wildcard)
Christian Haber (20, The_Fucking_Masters) - 37,82 (Wildcard)
Chris White (20, OffTheFront) - 33,94 (Wildcard)

Keep promoting Aussie cyclists, please! We need reinforcements in almost every category. Go go Australia!!  8)

Julian Garlick was better than expected, Gus Walker slightly worse than expected. In the end, it resulted in a helper (Garlick) that was at the front of the race in section 4, while the team leader (Walker) was trailing. Fortunately, Herbie Aldrin could stay in touch with Walker, so he still had help to climb a few positions in the final section.

10th place for Walker: 120 points
15th place for Garlick:    70 points

Not too bad, but the result could have been a lot better if Walker did slightly better in section 3 and/or 4.

The Belgians take a firm lead, in a race which was dominated by the sprinters of Noldor. They are already at 600 points.

Don't worry, selection for hill race will be made later today.

Oh, it's gonna be a very tough race, we don't have 20 year hillers with really high quality.

Good luck WiC !

Thx Vos  :)

Congrats with scoring points with the Fox!
Did not expect it either, hopefully he will be a good hill-climber for a u23 NT race in a season or two.

Thanks, I think it was the best we could achieve as well. Unfortunately, we didn't have a well trained hill specialist for that race, but Fox did very good.  :)

Super happy with the 3rd place with Chris White and Justin Farmer seems to have played a critical role in the result. Well done with the execution of tactics.

Wow, great job. Seems you will have two nice generations. I have to consider bringing an aussie to my climbers generation, even now it will be only able for the NT

Well, I do not consider the current 20yr generation to be a very outstanding generation, to be honest  :-[

There are some nice cyclists though.

No expectations for tonight's race. Out top 4 in GV have a cumulative total of 1 experience point and none of them has a cobble or hill stat 70+.
