U23 Australia S38
« on: June 03, 2018, 01:49:20 pm »
Welcome to season 38.  Below you can click on the image to see the current u23 rankings for Australia as calculated by me.  You'll notice I've experimented with creating a Grand Tour ranking, no guarantees to its accuracy (take it with a few grains of salt).
Not the best calendar for us, only one flat TT, and one climb stage.  But worst of all is 3 stages with cobbles (one year out on that), so that's three stages we will lucky to get points for.  But it is what it is, so we'll see how we go, and we can always surprise.

Not expecting any surprises for the race tonight, so I'm not writing up a preview.

He is.  Pity that with only one climb race, this season isn't more favourable for him and the fellow climbers.   Still, maybe we can get a good result in race 4.

Cool, Telamon gets to do my job for one race.
But I've got to prewarn you, if the ABS team gets a result, I'm taking the credit; and if the u23 team gets a result, I'm taking the credit as well.

Anyway.
Race 2

Selections

Henry Battle   FinOCyclinGTeaM   21

Prospects
Telamon (not me) is just spraying my cyclists out there like a madman with a machine gun hoping that something hits the target.

Well done with a 6th place, seems like the tactics worked out well, there was always a teammate around the leader.

Yep Dirk, last race did manage to go ok, pity it didn't break up more in the first sector, but anyway, race 4.

Race 4

Selections
Name   Team   Age
Richard King   JaviTeamCCF   22
Bob Judd   marijntjesteam   22
Sam Sand   Ucss   22
Abraham Coburn   Sacido   22
Henry Aldrin   FlandriaFussion   22
Nate Owens   FlandriaFussion   22
Nick Owens   Sacido   21
Justin Farmer   OffTheFront   20
Chris White   OffTheFront   20

Prospects
Not a favorite, due to DH last section, but maybe it won't come to that & we get decent points - hopefully my tactics work.  Had third & fourth opinions on leader due to DH, but have now ended up choosing Richard over Henry despite Henry's better DH.

Results
Position   Name   Age   Time behind   Points   Team
6th   Richard King      22   0: 22"   160      JaviTeamCCF
18th   Nate Owens      22   1: 12"   30      FlandriaFussion

thx Flandria & Dirk.  It beats a kick in the teeth, although there's a problem in that we're running out of races to score major points in.  Still, we'll soldier on.
